Chicago Sites

Well, we have officially been here for 12 days with no furniture, BUT it will be here tomorrow and then Bekins WILL really be hearing it from this girl! So, since we literally had NO furniture, we decided to buy some rugs and some outdoor furniture and use it as our 'living room' furniture for the time being.
Matt thought he would use Canton as an ottoman. You would really have to know our dog to appreciate this picture. No lie, this dog will brush up to you just to have a 'toe' touching him. AND if he is not getting attention from us, he will move on to the little dog (Bentlie Belle) and nudge up against her. It is hilarious!

However, we still have managed to have some fun in the city. A few days ago we went to the Shedd Aqaurium which was supposed to be the "largest" aquarium in the world....well it must be in square footage or something, because I can honestly say that Sea World is much cooler;) However, they were doing a jellies exhibit and I found this fascinating! Usually, I just think of jelly fish as disgusting and almost always associate them with Galveston, but if you look at the pics below you can see how mesmerizing they are.

In light of the recent shark week, I snagged a photo of this baby shark being incubated in this egg. If you look closely, you can see the outline of the shark.

Lastly, it was Lollapalooza last weekend in Chicago and while we did not attend the concert, we could hear and see it (a little) from 28 floors up. So, all in all Chicago has been delivering some great fun!

Matt's Birthday

On July 31st my sweet husband turned 27! However, I am sure he would tell you that his birthday was not all it was cracked up to be...honestly, I did not make it so memorable because we had just arrived in Chi the day before and found our condo in shambles. So, as you are all aware we did do not have any furniture, but we also walked into place that was not cleaned (and I mean not clean...including toilets, showers, floors!) and was painted a 'Nantucket Fog' by Benjamin Moore. Those of you who have recently painted a boy nursery, might be familiar with this color:) Seriously, that is how blue our whole place was, which unfortunately does not work out for us;)

So, being the AWESOME husband and man he is, Matt spent his birthday painting and subsequently the 2 days following his birthday painting the shade of blue to a shade of beige:) Giving our 28 floors up condo a beautiful new color.

Later that evening, we went to dinner at Nomi in the Park Hyatt! WOW, it had an amazing view (see below) and great food. If you are ever in Chi, you MUST go here! When it was all said and done, Matt had a great day!! Happy Birthday ~ Love YOU Matt!

We are Here!

Well...we are now officially in Chicago, but I would hardly call us settled in:/ However, before moving up to the windy city we enjoyed some time at the Lake for the fourth of July (where we managed to start a small fire in the neighbor's yard...I guess there was a burn ban for a reason), Four Seasons Nevis, Lake Travis with the fam, Napa and Carmel! Not a bad month, all in all.

We officially moved out of our house on June 30th, but had our stuff picked up by Bekins on the 28th (I will get to them in a minute....words CANNOT describe my frustration anger). We decided to sleep on a blow up mattress in June thinking it would be fun making memories, but what we did not realize is how handy that mattress would become. Below you can see some pics of moving day and me on our "the mattress" before departing the big D :(

Now to Bekins...apparently we did not choose the most awesome rep to go with, seeing as how she told me she was on muscle relaxers the day she came to quote us for our move (TMI)!!! So, we were supposed to have our stuff no later than Aug. 2nd and then it was Aug. 6th and now it is Aug. 12th! Apparently, the lady never put in our order to be delivered on Aug. 2nd, so in hind sight, the other movers would have probably been better to go with, but what can we do about it now! Needless to say, the blow up mattress posted above has come to be our dear and beloved friend as we are now sleeping on it for the 10th night out of a potential 15 :) With all that said, we are making some great memories! This may sound cheesy, but I have always loved hearing stories and actually living through the stories of how all of my parents were living on love before making something for themselves. I know this is what Matt and I are going through AND I absolutely LOVE that! On to more memories...after driving 14 hours - which was really not that bad - we made it to Chi-town! Even our dogs were great (I know you are thinking it can't be that bad they are just dogs, but if you had this guy breathing down your neck...literally, you may think twice)!! :)

Once arriving to our apartment, 28 floors up, we were exhausted and tired but welcomed to beautiful fireworks from our living room window!
So, for now we are 28 Floors Up and enjoying our summer in Chicago!
XOXO!
