Maternity Photos

Last weekend, Matt and I went out at took our maternity photos at Montrose Harbor with Patricia Anderson Photography. I actually chose her, because she does the most adorable newborn photos...I am really more concerned with Grayson's photos than our own, but I LOVE our pics too! She really captured what we wanted. Since we live in Chicago, we wanted to add some of our Texan roots, but Chicago also has a beautiful lake, so we got to capture that as well. She did a great job and I cannot wait for her to take his photos shorty after he is born! Thanks Tricia!

Babymoon in Scottsdale

Last weekend, Matt and I headed to Scottsdale for warmer weather and relaxation. He has been so busy with school and I have been rather busy with work, so it was nice to get away from the city and just enjoy one another before Grayson arrives in May. Here are some pics from the weekend. We had a blast!

Grayson Gets Showered With Love x2

This past weekend Grayson was showered with love in Sugar Land by some of my aunts and mom's sweet friends. Everything turned out beautifully and it was able to be held at my parent's new house! They have been working so hard on it for so long, so I was thrilled we were able to celebrate this occasion there. Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us. Only two months to meet our little guy!

Balloons out front - ironically there was a neighbor having a party or shower too with blue and white balloons. Needless to say, we had some guests make an appearance at their house before making their way to ours!

St. Patrick's Day and More

This past weekend was quite eventful for the Slatapers. First, I must say I have REALLY been procrastinating with Grayson's nursery. I just got bedding...bought it right off the floor rather than waiting 8-10 weeks for its arrival, and I must say this was the way to go because we also got 20% off! We just ordered the glider/recliner, which takes 10-12 weeks, so it should literally be here right in time for Grayson or maybe even after. We also just ordered the twin sleeper sofa (we only have a 2 bedroom condo, so we need something for our guests), AND I FINALLY boxed up our guest bedroom furniture and had Matt move it into storage until we go back to Texas for the summer and then we can store it at one of our parents' houses. Oh....and I have not gotten our bassinet or cradle yet, because I can't decide what I want, but I do know if I wait any longer it probably won't arrive in time for him and that is really what he sleeps in in the beginning! It is not so much that I have been procrastinating, but more that I am just SUPER indecisive (not my finest quality).

So, this weekend/past week was dedicated to cleaning out the guest room, Matt and I clearing out that closet, making more room in ours, the hall closet and our bathrooms. The container store has really loved us:) My little handy man has also been building extra shelves for us to store stuff in our closet and bathroom. It really is challenging having 6-8 months of winter, because that stuff is bulky and it is not like I can just put it away for a while like we do in Texas; I actually have to use it! It is also challenging not having an attic, but we will make do with what we have;) Plus, we really do love our place.

As I have mentioned, our nursery is NOT even close to done, but we did manage to put the crib together, put the bedding on and begin to organize his closet and dresser!!

Matt working hard. The crib has been sitting in the guest room on the wall for about 2 months, but it is finally put together. We love it!

Since, we are having a boy, Bentlie is still our little baby girl for now;)

I absolutely LOVE our bedding! It is the Thomas design by Nava's Designs. And, we have an added bonus because we DID NOT have to paint the walls. We were really trying to find a neutral yet boy bedding that would match our walls so we would not have to paint, since we already painted 17 walls when we moved into our place...

This past weekend we also got to see the Chicago river turn GREEN! It was so awesome and I have really been looking forward to seeing this. We went down to the river around 10am and watched them dump dye into the river. There were literally thousands of people lined up along the river to watch this spectacle.


Later, we went to our friends Jordan and Matt's and hung out on their rooftop patio. The weather was GORGEOUS - 80 degrees (apparently a St. Patty's Day high for Chicago). We cooked out and had a ton of fun. Thanks Jordan and Matt for having us!

Grayson's First Shower

This past weekend Matt and I went to Dallas. We had such a great time visiting with family and friends; we have really missed seeing everyone! Matt got a chance to play golf and I got attend my first baby shower. The shower was hosted by my dear friends Lauren, Kari, Meredith and Jen. It turned out beautiful! They really did a great job. The shower was a luncheon held at Forty Five Ten. It was decorated with beautiful arrangements that had blue hydrangeas, place cards from Daley Ann and champagne cocktails were served (of course I had some sips).

I must say that Grayson made out like a bandit. He really got the most adorable clothes, great toys and some practical things for mama! We are so blessed to have such great friends and family. Thank you to everyone who came. See some pics below from the shower.
